Today's zoom lenses offer any range of zoom according to the proffessionals taste, like 16 - 55mm, 28 - 300mm, 100 - 600mm. And it is very easy to use all type of photographers.

Zoom lenses make taking pictures more frame accuracy. Zoom lenses can be heavy, and makes slow AF than other fixed lens,also have a smaller maximum aperture than a fixed focus length lens. It makes the object in the viewfinder look darker and requires you to use a slower shutter speed than you would when using a faster lens. But most of my potographer friends, use zoom lenses.
